Adjacent Possible Sculpture

Minneapolis, MN

Structural Features

  • As a main center-piece, the sculpture is a soaring web of stainless steel, 3-1/2″ standard weight pipe which appears to grow out of the ground towards the new building.
  • Several iterations of 3D finite element models and physical scale models were built during the design process to create a structurally sound sculpture while maintaining artistic intent.
  • Being in a northern environment, the sculpture is designed for ice loading and severe wind loads likely to occur during harsh winters.
  • Adjacent Possible in located in the Biomedical Discovery District Plaza in front of the Cancer and Cardiovascular Research Building.
