CDC Building 24
Decatur, GA
- 323,000 sq ft
- $97 million
- 12 stories
- LEED Gold
Structural Features
- The curved shape of the office building required careful coordination with concrete formwork, as well as detailing and placement of the reinforcing steel, particularly for the perimeter concrete beams.
- In addition to the normal design criteria of an office building, the project is designed to mitigate damage from a potential blast threat and also to prevent progressive collapse of the structure in the event of a loss of any column.
- The confined construction site also created numerous challenges for the design-build team. Careful phasing, staging and logistics were needed to minimize disruption to the ongoing operations at the CDC Roybal campus.
