Covenant College - Carter Hall Renovation

Lookout Mountain, GA
  • 97,000 sq ft
  • $20 million
  • 10 stories
  • Completed in 2017

Structural Features

  • Originally built in the 1920’s as a resort hotel, Carter Hall is a Tudor style concrete framed and stucco structure and features a 10-story cast-in-place concrete tower.
  • The driving goal of this major renovation and restoration was to restore and preserve the character of the historic building while meeting the needs of a thriving college campus.
  • To return the character of the 10-story tower to its original design, 270,000 pounds of crenelated precast panels were utilized. New tube steel posts were added to support the weight of the panels landing on the ninth floor – conveniently the 8th floor was quite stout as it previously housed a cistern.
