Structural Features

  • This condominium tower was constructed on top of an existing 4-level parking garage that had been designed to support a less significant overbuild. The garage remained in service throughout the construction activities.
  • The new tower utilizes the existing garage columns and foundations, which required extensive testing of the existing structure to verify load carrying capacity.
  • An innovative post-tensioned flat plate slab and moment frame system utilizing light weight concrete was developed for the project to maximize the number of floors while minimizing the modifications of the existing garage.
  • A wind tunnel investigation was undertaken to ensure occupant comfort.
