To maximize land use of the compact urban site, the building is situated very closely to the neighboring brick buildings. Therefore, careful attention was paid during design and construction to minimize disturbance to the adjacent structures.
At the building’s prow, the exterior floor grating and the full-height metal mesh façade system required complex analysis and sophisticated detailing. The structural steel supports were designed for Chicago’s ice and wind loads with additional consideration for vibrations within the metal mesh façade.
The rooftop trellis is framed with exposed structural steel designed and detailed to meet AESS requirements.
