Jim has over 38 years of experience in a wide variety of building types and technologies, with a focus on effective integration of structure and architecture. He was voted the 2013 Georgia Engineer of the Year, based upon his engineering accomplishments, his teaching roles, and his professional activities.

Jim is passionate about architecture and collaborative design. His favorite projects include the Kendeda Building at Georgia Tech, the RGA corporate headquarters in St. Louis, the University of Louisville Pedestrian Bridge and the High Museum of Art in Atlanta which was designed in collaboration with noted architect Renzo Piano.

Outside of work, Jim enjoys spending time with his family (especially grandchildren), traveling, watching great movies, bicycling, working out and cooking.
